Who we are
Remote Comp (“we”, “us”) provides remote desktop access to a Mac from your phone, at remotecomp.app. This site is our advertising and lead-generation platform: it runs paid-ads landing pages, captures leads, and measures the performance of our advertising. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. For any privacy request, contact privacy@remotecomp.app.
Personal data we collect
Depending on how you interact with our ads and pages, we collect:
- Contact details you submit. Your name, email address, and phone number when you fill in a lead or contact form.
- Advertising click identifiers. When you arrive from an ad, the click ID appended to the URL — Meta’s
fbclid, Google’sgclid(and equivalents such asttclid, msclkid) — plus Meta’sfbc/fbpbrowser identifiers derived from them. - First-party attribution cookie. A cookie we set (
rcg_attr) that stores those click identifiers and campaign parameters (UTMs) so we can attribute a lead to the ad that produced it. This cookie is only set after you accept advertising cookies (see our Cookie Policy). - Campaign and page context. The landing page URL, campaign parameters, and the time of your visit or submission.
We do not store raw or hashed email addresses in our conversion records — those records carry only click identifiers and event data.
Why we process it, and our legal bases
Under the GDPR / UK GDPR we rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for advertising cookies, ads personalization, and sharing conversion data with advertising platforms for measurement and targeting. You give this consent through our cookie banner, and you can withdraw it at any time. Nothing is shared with Meta or Google for advertising until you have consented.
- Performance of a contract / steps prior to a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) to respond to your enquiry and provide the information or trial you requested.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) to operate, secure, and improve our site and to keep basic records of enquiries — balanced against your rights, and never for ads measurement without consent.
Who we share data with
We share personal data with the following categories of processor and recipient:
- Meta Platforms (Meta Conversions API). When you consent to ads measurement, we send conversion events — carrying click identifiers such as
fbc/fbp— to Meta so it can measure and optimize the ads that brought you here. - Google. When you consent, we send conversion data associated with
gclidto Google for conversion measurement and enhanced conversions. - Infrastructure and hosting providers. The vendors that host this site, our database, and our background processing, acting as processors under contract on our instructions.
Where these transfers involve countries outside the EEA/UK, they are covered by the recipient’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent transfer mechanism.
How long we keep it
- Lead and CRM records (name, email, phone, enquiry history) are retained for as long as we are in active contact with you and for up to 24 months after our last interaction, then deleted or anonymized.
- Advertising event / warehouse data (click identifiers and conversion events used for measurement) is retained on a rolling window of 30 days, after which the underlying rows expire automatically.
- The first-party attribution cookie (
rcg_attr) expires 90 days after it is set. - Consent records are kept for as long as needed to evidence your choice and to comply with our legal obligations.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting processing already carried out). You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Making a request (including right to be forgotten)
To exercise any of these rights — including a right-to-be-forgotten / erasure request — email privacy@remotecomp.app. When you ask us to erase your data, we honor the request across every identifier we hold that is linked to you — your contact record, your captured click identifiers, and any associated conversion and warehouse rows — not just a single email address. We aim to respond within one month.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices change. We will revise the “last updated” date above, and material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
